Where Can I Find a Hedgehog?
Just as vets are hard to find in this area, so are breeders. At the moment, there are only two breeders anywhere near Fairfax. They both live well over an hour away. I have met both of them and you can be assured that they will not just sell you a hedgehog. They will make sure that you know what you are getting into. Please also remember that hedgehogs are expensive. Unlike hamster and gerbils, hedgehogs cost well over 100 dollars. Then you also have to pay for food, a cage, toys, etc... Stasi Kanyuck:
Stasi lives in Joppa, which is
north of Baltimore, Maryland. She just recently moved to Maryland from Alaska.
She is a large, at-home, hedgehog breeder. She has over 50 hedgehogs. Her website is www.terrapinhedgehogs.com
Amy Kartage:
Amy lives in Newport News, which is near Williamsburg, VA.
She is a small, at-home, hedgehog breeder. She only has a few litters a year,
and is very picky about who she sells to. Her website is
www.virginiahedgehogs.com
On top of all this, there aren't any pet stores in the area that sell hedgehogs. If you want one, you have to get it from Amy or Stasi.
Rescue:
There is one other option when getting a hedgehog, and that is to rescue it.
